Horse training and horsemanship are the services offered by Kristel Holveck through her business Hooves and Hands Equine Education. Kristel’s business and facility is located in Newberg, Oregon. She holds to foundational horse training methodology, starting with the basics of ground work to develop respect in the horse and instill it with confidence and a comfort with itself. This aspect of basic training can be useful for an unridden horse or an older one needing a refresher course.
Once Kristel determines that the horse is comfortable with the training mode, she will introduce saddle work and then move up to the various gaits of walk, trot and canter. She strongly encourages the owner to be involved in this entire process so that the cues and training tips will be carried back home with the horse and owner working as a team. Kristel offers one free lesson each week for the owner so that this goal is achieved. The riding styles of Western, English, Dressage and trail riding are all available during coaching.
Kristel boards her clients’ horses and works with them five days a week in addition to the free lesson with each owner. The boarding is full care with a daily turnout and a regular feeding schedule. Supplements or special feeding can be incorporated into this routine if the owner requests it. The cost of full time training is $650 for 30 days. Other arrangements can be negotiated by contacting Kristel. Check out her website or give her a call at 503-871-7955 to start your plan of improved horsemanship today!
